What do you do outside HMN?

Aardvark, play with my son and watch all the sport I can manage. I also read a lot, and I'm interested in ancient history and warfare. When he lets me, I cuddle my cat.

Whom do you admire?

Lots of people, but there are a few that stand out. Justin Sullivan and Dennis Skinner, for adhering to their beliefs, even though I don't always agree with them. My Dad for too many reasons to list. Henry Rollins and Bill Hicks for making me think. Those people who are self employed and work hard enough to be successful.

What books and authors do you enjoy and why?

Guy Gavriel Kay is my favourite author (excepting the Fionavar Tapestry). The Lions of Al Rassan, Tigana and A Song for Arbonne are works of enormous scope, with numerous complete characters, often in opposition, and which never fail to make me cry. The other author who has me gripped in a similar way is George R R Martin in his series A Song of Fire and Ice. For lighter reading I like Terry Pratchett, particularly the Guards books.

Which bands / albums are you listening to at the moment?

SOAD - Toxicity, Rammstein - Mutter and Kittie - Oracle are the latest, plus my usual staples, New Model Army, Sabbath,  Midnight Oil and Neil Young.

What was your favourite gig?

New Model Army in Bangor on the Thunder and Consolation tour. The best gigs I've played were HMN in the British Hotel in Bangor August 2000 and Burnham Burnham in Bangor SU Main Bar, the first time I wore face paint, Which was some time around 1987 or 88.

Where were you born?

Cuckfield in West Sussex, in the middle of a violent blizzard.

What was the first album you bought?

I bought two together, Deepest Purple, and AC/DC - If you want blood you've got it. You have to understand though, I was only two at the time!
